Santa Fe Hemp was established in 1997. It is a small business owned by a mother and daughter team. The eco-business began on a push-cart in a shopping center in downtown Santa Fe. With a flimsy white sign declaring the city's first hemp company, and a smattering of hemp goods, the little family spread the word around town that hemp was here to save the planet.
In 1999, we moved to the current space. The store is one block off the historic Plaza, two doors down from Cafe Pasqual's. In 2000, we started our online shop. (It has undergone many changes, but we think this one is here to stay.)
We sell hemp and organic cotton clothing & accessories, eco-friendly paper products, recycled/upcycled goods, hand-crafted gifts and collectible potteries, locally-produced music, new & used books, and a number of other interesting items.
We got into this business because we recognized the need for a focus on natural products, organic clothing and handcrafted goods. Politically and socially-minded media also became an important part of the business.
